Book mission is about a personal journey of myself (Dimantha) and my family trying to restructure our home's library considering new updates of the modern world.
This blog entry is mostly in Sinhalese, my mother tongue. But it will reflect on basically upgrading and cleaning our home's small library before 2018.
Challenges, expenses, and time wasted to this hectic mission was a fun-filled journey.

23/11/2017 දින අප ගෙදර ඉහළ මාලයේ අපගේ නිවසේ පිහිටි කුඩා පුස්තකාලයේ පැවෙති ඉතා පැරණි වුත් වටිනා වුත් පොත් දෙකක් ගුල්ලන් හා පොත් කාවන් අතින් භාවිතයට ගත නොහැකි ලෙස විනාශ විය. මාගේ සිත තුළ ඇති වූ කම්පනය කෙතරම් ද යත් දැවැන්ත නිහැඩියාවක් හා හිස් බවක් මට දැනුණි. එම කෘති දෙක වුයේ,
(01) ආනන්ද කුමාරස්වාමිගේ "මධ්‍ය කාලීන සිංහළ කළා" හි ඉංග්‍රීසී කෘතිය
(02) වසර 50 ක ශ්‍රී ලා0කීය පුවත් පත් වල පලවූ දේශපාලනික කාටුන් එකතුව (ලේක්හවුස් ප්‍රකාශනයකි.)
මින් පසු අප නිවස තුළ පැවතී සියලුම පොත් අස් කිරීමට මම තීරණය කළෙමි. එය දැවැන්ත මෙහෙයුමක් බවට පත් වී ඇත.
23/11/2017 When I randomly selected two books to be read from our upstairs library, they were destroyed by "bookworms" in a manner in which they will never be able to be used. The shock due to this in my mind created a silence and an emptiness that eventually lead me to start cleaning the relevant small library of us.
The two books that were destroyed during the attack of the "book worms" are as follows,
(01) A famous book of renowned academic Mr. Ananda Kumaraswami
(02) A book that contained cartoons of 50 years published in "Lakehouse Publishers" newspapers.
23/11/2017 ඇරඹී අපගේ ගෙදර පිරිසිදු කිරීමේ මෙහෙයුම ඉතාම සාර්ථක අයුරින් කෙරීගෙන යන බව පැවැසිය යුතුය. අපගේ නිවසේ පැවැති බොහෝ අනවශ්‍ය දෑ මම ඉවත් කලෙමි. අද (03/12/2017) දින මම නිවසෙහි අපගේ අම්මාගේ පියා (මගේ සීයා) ගේ ඉතා පැරණි ලියවිලි ප්‍රමානයක් මා විනාශ කර දැම්මෙමි.
ඔහු සතුව පැවැති "සම්පත් බැ0කුවේ" ලියවිලි, "ගම්පහ විශ්ව කළා පදනමේ" ලියවිලි, "කුමාරතුංග මුනිදාස පදනමේ" ලියවිලි, "කොරල් සෑන්ඩ්ස් හෝටලයේ" ලියවිලි, "ශ්‍රී ලංකා පාපන්දු සම්මේලනයේ" ලියවිලි, ඔහුගේ චෙක් පත් හා ආයෝජන වලට අදාළ බොහෝ ලියවිලි ගිනිබත් වී යන ආකාරය මා බලා උන්නෙමි. එක් පුද්ගලයෙකුගේ ජීවිත කාලයක කොටසක් එසේ ඉතිහාසයෙන් සදා නැතිවීමට ගතවුයේ පැය භාගයක්, ගිනි පෙට්ටියක් හා ගිනි කුරක් පමණකි.
The restructuring of libraries which started on 23/11/2017 has been extremely successful. I was able to remove many unnecessary items from our premises.
On 03/12/2017 I destroyed a lot of unnecessary documents from my mother and her father (My grandfather).
Documents of "Sampath Bank", Documents of "Gampaha Vishwa Kala" Foundation, Documents of "Kumaratunga Munidasa Foundation", Documents of "Coral Sands Hotel", Documents of "Sri Lanka Football Federation", His old checkbooks and Investment documents were burnt in that evening in an instance.
All it took was half an hour (1/2 hour), a matchbox and a fire match to erase a part of a person's life.
2017/12/07 දින නිවාඩු ගත්තෙමි. උපාධි ප්‍රධානෝත්සවයට සහභාගී වුනෙමි. රු. 9600 /= ක් වටිනා පොත් ගත්තෙමි. දැන් අනාගතය ලඟා වී ඇත. (නුගේගොඩ රවුම් ගැසුවෙමි. [ දුයිෂෙන් ගේ පොත්හල, කියවන නුවණ පොත්හල හා සරසවි පොත්හල])
පසුව නව පොත් පත් විශාල ප්‍රමාණයක් මම මිලදී ගත්තෙමි. මගේ ඉතුරුම් විශාල ප්‍රමාණයක් ඒ සදහා යොදාගත් බව පැවසිය යුතුය. තවද නැවත ගෙවීමේ පදනමට මම බොහෝ මුදල් ණයට ගෙන බොහෝ වියදම් අපේ පුස්තකාලයට කලෙමි.

On 2017/12/07 I took annual leave from my workplace. Attended the graduation of my degree. Spent Sri Lankan Rupees of 9600/- on books. The future awaits. (Hanged around in Nugegoda. [ Dhuishen's Bookshop - Russian Bookshop, "Kiyawana Nuwana Bookshop" and Sarasavi Bookshop.])
Again I purchased a selected amount of books from many bookshops for my library. I have to say I used half of my savings for this activity. And also I took a huge loan from many related parties (my younger brother).
I purchased these books from the following bookshops,

2017/12/24 අද 2017 වසරේ නත්තලට පෙර දිනයයි. අද ඉරිදාවකි. මා විසින් නොවැම්බර් 23 වන දින ආරම්භ කළ පොත් මෙහෙයුම දැන් ඉතාම සංකීර්ණ තත්ත්වයක් බවට පරිවර්තනයක් වී ඇත.
අප ගෙදර "පොත් මෙහෙයුම" ක්‍රියාත්මක කරනවාත් සමග මාගේ පෞද්ගලික රසාස්වාදනය, අධ්‍යාපනය, පවුල් ජීවිතය, වෘත්තීය ජීවිතය කළමනාකරණය හා තව "උප මෙහෙයුම්" කිහිපයක් ද සිදුකිරීමට මට සිදුවිය.
එක් "උප මෙහෙයුමක්" නම් නිවස පිරිසිදු කරනවාත් සමග හමුවූ ඉතා පැරණි VHS තාක්ෂණයෙන් නිරමානය කළ කැසට් පටි කිහිපයක් හමු වීම. එම කැසට් පට අතර මගේ දෙමාපියන්ගේ මගුල් උත්සවයේ පටිගත කිරීම් හමුවූ අතර එය පිරිසිදු කිරීමට සිදුවීමයි.
තවද පැවති බොහෝ අතිරේක ළමා කියවුම් පොත් හා අප පියා විසින් හා මා විසින් දෙවරක් මිලදී ගත් වටිනා අමතර සාහිත්‍ය කෘති ගම්පහ පුස්තකාලයට පරිත්‍යාග කිරීමට ගොඩ ගැසුවෙමි.
නමුත් තවමත් මෙම කාර්යයන් බොහෝ ප්‍රමාණයක් ඇත්තේ අර්ධ වශයෙන් අවසන්වය. නමුත් මුලික අඩිතාලම මේ සදහා යොදා ඇත. මෙය වර්ෂය අවසන් වීමත් සමග අවසානයක් කරා ලගා කරගැනීමට කැමැත්තෙමි.
2018/12/24 is the day before Christmas. It's a Sunday. The "book mission" I started has become an extremely complex activity.
With this "Book mission," some other missions also arose. Maintaining family life, education, professional life, enjoying, and reading literature can be listed as the other missions.
During the restructuring of the house, I was able to find my parent's wedding recording which was made in VHS. So I have to search for an external party to personally clean them for me to keep them as a memory.
And also during the cleaning process of our small library, we were able to identify selected books that were excess to our library where I and my father planned to donate them to the "Gampaha Public Library".
2018/01/01 නම් නව වසරේ පළමු වන දින වන විට පොත් පිරිසුදු කර එය තැන්පත් කිරීමට බලා සිටිමි.
With the New Year arrived on 2018/01/01 the "The Book Mission" is at its final stages.
2018/01/16 වන විටත් පොත් මෙහෙයුම අතරමැද සිරවී සිටි. එයට හේතුව බොහෝ වටිනා පැරණි පොත් කිහිපයක් අළුතින් බැදුම්කිරීමට සිදුවීමයි. මෙම කටයුත්ත කැලණිය S & S Book Binders හරහා සිදුකිරීමට කටයුතු යොදවා ඇත.
On 2018/01/16 the book mission required a finishing touch by "binding and hard covering" some old books which were given to Kelaniya S&S Book Binders.
2018/03/28 වන දින විට මාස 6 ක කාලයකට පසු අපගේ නිවසට අයිති පුස්තකාලය සකස් කර අවසන් විය. මෙය අපගේ පවුලේ දැවැන්ත ක්‍රියාවලියක් වැනිය.
"හැරී පොටර්" ඉංග්‍රීසි පොතක්ද පොත් කාවන් හා ගුල්ලන් හරහා විනාශයට පත්විය.
On 2018/03/28 I was able to complete the "Book Mission" successfully. This was a hectic activity that included many of my family member's time and resources being spent. Hope it was worth it.
But "Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince" paperback print book was a victim of bookworm which was one of the last victims of the attacks.
